Canonbury is part of the Governments 'Healthy Schools' initiative.

A good balanced diet and an awareness of healthy food are an important part of the school day. Lunch is also a valuable time for learning social skills, the older children are encouraged to help the younger with drinks and are selected to offer a selection of healthy snacks at snack times. Please scroll down to view weekly menus and advice about packed lunches.

Packed Lunches

If your child does not have a school lunch, they should bring a packed lunch with them. We would of course request that this is a well balanced meal. Fizzy drinks are not allowed.

Healthy Eating

We encourage all of our children to eat lots of fruit and drink lots of water! We would also be grateful if PEANUT BUTTER could be avoided. We have a 'no nut' rule at Canonbury and would request that you remember this when packing lunches and snacks.

The one golden rule at lunchtime is… try to eat what you are given! We don't encourage our children to be wasteful!

The no sweets rule

Canonbury encourages healthy living. We encourage the no sweets rule in school to promote a healthy attitude towards eating. This rule does not apply to the children bringing in sweets for their birthdays or on school special occasions, when children may bring in sweets to share.
