The school day starts for all pupils at 8:55am, and finishes at 15:20 for the younger children and at 15:30 for those children in Key Stage 2. On wet days the school will open at 8:40am for pupils. At all other times the children will be collected from the playground by their class teacher. Every day starts with an assembly for the children in Key Stages One and Two. The children then will have four or five lessons throughout the day. The lessons will include daily lessons in Literacy and Numeracy, Phonics and Guided Reading. In the afternoons we follow the Creative Curriculum, including science and investigation, humanities, personal, social and health education, the arts and physical education.
All the children have an hour for lunch and they are welcome to have a free school dinner or bring a packed lunch. All the children have a fifteen minute break in the morning and are welcome to bring in healthy snacks to eat at this time. The younger children also have a break in the afternoon. At the end of the day the older children are brought to the playground by their class teachers. Children in Nursery, Reception and Year One can be collected from their classrooms.
School Meals
Our school meals are provided by Caterlink in association with Islington Council. The food is locally sourced wherever possible and free of charge to every child. To apply, forms are available from the school office. Our lunch breaks are staggered to ensure every child has as long as they need to eat their lunch. The lunch hall is well supervised by members of staff and a member of Senior Leadership Team is always present. The staff encourage the children to make healthy choices and behave well.
Every day the children are offered a choice of three main meals, including a vegetarian option. There is brown bread available and a carbohydrate. The children are also offered a selection of two cooked vegetables and can choose freely from the salad bar. The children have a choice of hot and cold puddings, including fresh fruit every day. Drinking water is provided at the tables which the children can help themselves to. We encourage collective responsibility by asking the children to clear their own plates when they have finished eating.
