    Cake Sale Stalls

We are an organisation made up of every parent and carer at the school. You are all automatically a member. Our aim is not only to raise funds for the school but also to help foster a community spirit via organised social events. Typical events include fireworks night, Christmas fairs, Summer fairs (all of which are great fun) and the weekly cake stall on Friday afternoons. Please note that the profit made from the cake stall goes directly to the class holding it and the class teacher identifies a benefit for class to which the money can be applied.

We organise ourselves through parent representatives from each class. They co-ordinate class cake stalls, organise presents for the teachers and help co-ordinate the running of a stall at summer and Christmas fairs.

PTA meetings are generally held every half term usually after morning drop offs. However evening meetings can be scheduled if there is sufficient interest. These meetings allow parents and carers to get together to organise events and to share ideas for future activities. In the past this has included gardening projects, recyclable fashion and the kids designing their own Christmas cards. So if you have any ideas, this is a great forum for them. The meetings also provide an opportunity to hear and decide upon which school ventures and projects should be funded by the PTA. These are put forward from the teaching staff, either through Matt or a teacher representative.

The PTA is an important bridge between the parent and the school and we look forward to your input.

    News Flash… November 2011

Suzanne Harris, Chair of  Canonbury Primary School’s PTA is pleased to announce that the school is now registered with TheGivingMachine.

TheGivingMachine is a not for profit website set up in 2006 to raise money for UK schools and charities. There are already over 2,500 schools currently raising money via TheGivingMachine and to date over £280,000 has been raised.

One of the easiest, cheapest most sustainable ways to raise money
Every year online shops pay £millions in sales commissions to other websites to direct shoppers to them.  TheGivingMachine enables shoppers to generate these sales commissions and convert them into donations for the schools and charities of their choice – all at no extra cost.

With the continued growth in Internet shopping in the UK, this is a great, free way that our supporters can give more to our school.

    • Parents, teachers, governors friends and family join www.TheGivingMachine.co.uk and choose to support Canonbury Primary School.
    • Then every purchase they make with their usual shops such as Amazon, ebay, John Lewis, in fact over 360 of the UK’s leading shops, triggers a free donation from the shop to your school. It doesn’t cost any more, and we’re not asking people to buy what they wouldn’t normally buy. Just keep shopping online as they do already,  via www.TheGivingMachine.co.uk , and at the same time raise money for your school.

    It really is that easy!
