E-Safety
Thank you to all those parents who completed the Internet Awareness Questionnaire. We had over 120 come back which provided some very useful data. The following provides some useful tips on how to ensure your child remains safe while using the internet.
- Know what your children are doing on line and who they are talking to. Ask them to teach you to use any applications you have never used.
- Keeping the computer in a family room means that you can share your child’s online experience-and that they are less likely to act inappropriately.
- Help your children to understand they should never give out personal details to online friends-personal information includes email address, mobile number, any pictures of themselves, their family or friends.
- Help your child to understand that some people lie online; therefore it’s better to keep online mates on line. They should never meet up with any strangers without an adult they trust.
- All computer games can be tested before purchased, this will ensure the suitability for your child.
- You decide as the parent how much time you want your child to spend on the computer.
For those of you unable to make the workshop we have attached an agreement you may want to use with your child when negotiating time spent on the computer.
